For İyiliğe Çağrı: off-the-shelf software out, its own donation platform in.

Since October 2025 we have been building its own donation and organisation system for the Istanbul-based aid organisation İyiliğe Çağrı: a website where donors can give easily, and an admin panel where the organisation manages everything itself. The platform currently runs in a test environment, and go-live is being prepared.

The starting point

İyiliğe Çağrı is an international aid organisation based in Istanbul. It collects donations for emergency relief, orphans, water wells, Qurban and permanent projects, in Türkiye and abroad.

Until now the organisation's website ran on a vendor's off-the-shelf software. The organisation no longer wanted its data stored there and needed more flexibility than the software offers. So we are building its own system, which will later run on the organisation's own hardware.

What we're building

  1. Donating like an online shop

Donation categories, detail pages, quick donations and a cart for several donations at once, even without an account. The server checks amounts, so prices can't be tampered with.

  2. Qurban from reservation to message

Donors reserve shares by country and animal type. In the admin panel the organisation allocates shares, generates posters in bulk from Excel and contacts donors via WhatsApp.

  3. Zakat calculator

Donors enter assets and debts in lira, foreign currencies and gold. The system fetches exchange rates daily from the Turkish central bank, and the amount goes straight into the cart.

  4. Managing everything in-house

Home page, menu, news, publications, FAQ and projects with budgets and funds: the organisation manages all content in the admin panel, in three languages, with permissions per module and a log of every change.

  5. Backed by tests

Almost 3,000 automated backend tests with around 75% code coverage, plus unit and Playwright tests in the frontends. Every change goes through an automated check.
